How to Create a Healthy Workplace

Happiness and health within a role can be triggered by many factors. The space we’re in, the people that surround us and the feel of the environment. As an employer, you’re able to provide tools and products which will influence a healthy workspace, but it’s also on the individual take some responsibility for their own workplace happiness.

Working together and understanding how physical and mental health brings happiness to the office, may be the strength an office needs for the perfect office dynamics.

Offering Free Fruit

After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Providing an office with a fruit bowl is a sure way to show that you care about health. Placing the bowl in a break area actively encourages the team to welcome more fruit into their diet. Fruit brings benefits to the body, and each piece is rich in vitamins and sugars to keep us healthy.

Take away vending machines filled with fizzy drinks and convenience food. By doing so, you’ll be removing temptations and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Eating well can improve mood and increase concentration – which is always a winner.

The work-life balance

Working in excess isn’t healthy, so it’s important to have a comfortable work-life balance. Working heard whilst you’re in the office is great but enjoy the time away from the office where you get to rest and work on hobbies. A healthy balance will relieve pressure and support struggles with mental health.

Everybody needs to rest, enjoy a holiday, or take some time away from the office. Through taking a break, individuals will be thoroughly rested and engaged. Rather than being tired, ran down and lacking motivation and most importantly happiness!

Air Flow

It’s a simple thing but letting fresh air flow through the office will blow away the cobwebs. Moving air will keep the office fresh, keeping you awake and alert. Fresh air lowers heart rate, blood pressure & provides greater clarity when thinking, focusing and concentrating.

So, when possible, open the windows and doors and let the fresh air flow. And with any luck, creativity and motivation will be in full swing.

Team Building

In a larger organisation, it’s not unusual that people don’t talk to one another or even know each other’s name. But that can be changed.

Team building is such a great way to bring people, personalities, and departments in a remote situation for a fun day of team building exercises. The main focus is to get the office to work together, to communicate and hopefully build some new relationship with the people they see every day.
