How to get the best cut with a Crawley barber

It is easy to ensure that your hairstyle is perfect every time.
It takes a little planning and some key facts to remind your barber.

When your barber asks you, “What are you doing today?” tell him exactly what to say.

1. Tell your barber how many years it has been since the last haircut.

Barbers are familiar with how long hair takes to grow. If you tell them how long ago it was, they will be able to imagine how your hair used to look like back then.

You can then tell them how you want it look or how it should be different.

2. Your lifestyle should be shared with your barber

Your barber must know you to give you a cut that you will love.

Your barber should know where you work, your hobbies, your weekend plans, your hairstyle, and any other information that might be useful.

You want your barber’s cut to fit your lifestyle and reflect you.

3. Make sure you are specific about the style of your hair

Although it may sound simple, most men don’t do it correctly. Some people aren’t doing it at all.

Crawley barbers are skilled in their craft but aren’t mind readers. It’s not enough to expect them to fill the gaps. You can’t expect them to just say “short on both sides, long at the top”.

These are some terms to help you get the hairstyle you want.

Inches are the best number to use when describing how long your hair should be (1 1/2 inches, 1 1/2 inches, etc. ).
It is also helpful to know which number of clippers your barber will use. Ask your barber to use a longer setting first, then gradually reduce it until you find the right setting.
Particularly for men with long hair, it is important to specify how much they would like their hair cut. Many will tell their barber to just keep the hair down. This will give you a professional, neat look.
A layered haircut is a better choice for men with longer hair. It gives you more movement and dimension than longer styles.
Ask for a tapered haircut if you don’t want your sides all the same length. This means that your hair grows gradually higher towards the top.
You should specify how sharp you would like your hair to transition from long to shorter. A shaved portion (long on top, buzzed at the sides) is for those who want no transition. You can also request a natural or blended transition for a more conservative look.

Texturing can make your hair more manageable. Texturing can thin your hair and make it look thinner. It is also great for thicker hair.
Either a tapered (natural), or squared (block), neckline can be requested in the back. A tapered neckline follows your natural hairline. A block cut cuts across the hairline. The tapered neckline is preferred by most men, as it looks natural.
Your barber should know how long your fringe (aka bangs), should be. Also, if you would like it to be swept to the side or styled in any other way.

Your goal is to be precise enough so that your barber can understand exactly what you are imagining.

4. Take a photo of you hair, but only one.

Barbers are visual people. Pictures can help them visualize what they want in a haircut, and also serve as a guide.

But there’s a catch: the best photo that you can take to show your barber is one of you after getting a haircut you love. Photographing someone else’s hair does not take into consideration your hair’s unique traits like texture, thickness, and hairline.
